Southwest Airlines Customer Care Review from Athens, Georgia

On July 21 2106, my boys and I was flying to Orlando Florida to catch a cruise ship. When I got to the airport they took my bags, and I check the screen it said the flight was on time. The representative welcome us, told us how to board, we all was in line to board then the representative says sorry the flight has been cancelled, I went to the service desk she got us on another flight, the same thing happened we all was ready to board then the representative says sorry the flight has been cancelled, this cost me to miss my cruise ship. I ask where my luggage the representative assure everyone since the plane didn't leave our bags is still down stairs, I went to the baggage claim to get them for the customer service to tell everyone even though our bags is still here it will still go to Orlando do a turn around tgen come back to Atlanta, I still haven't received a call about my luggage. The representative told me that it was a computer glinch and it happened last night and it was on the news, that how she found out about it. So that lets me know that southwest knew that the planes was not going to fly when it was on the screen. Southwest owes me for my tickets and cruise trip

If you are going on a cruise, always fly into the departure city the day before, Too much can happen regardless of the airlines you choose, if you count on being there on the day of the cruise, e.g. weather, etc. If you are going to risk a flight arriving there on the day of departure, then a) choose the absolute earliest flight of the day that you can take - less chance of problems, and b) pay the extra for a good airlines so that if there is a problem, you can fly on one of their partner airlines.

I'll bet that trip insurance you passed on doesn't sound like a bad idea now.

Southwest Airlines -- DONT DO IT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is the 3rd problem WITH THIS EXACT BAG in the last 2 Southwest trips -- most recently, our luggage arrived covered in grease -- including my wife's Hartman luggage that she received as a Christmas present. (Not cheap...) Last summer, I had the joy of attending Disney Florida without the benefit of any clothing or toiletries with this exact bag that they again lost on this trip. That was fun -- 100 degrees, no bathing suit, shorts, deodorant... After 4 days gave up and had to purchase a disposable wardrobe from Target. Thanks. My bag arrived at the Magic Kingdom ON THE LAST DAY OF THE TRIP. They offered to pay for the Target clothes and toiletries that I donated to good will the minute I returned home. The agent was atrocious when dealing with the problem -- I sent her picture to the company to identify her, they didn't care. This time, going from Midway to Vegas, our bags arrived covered in airplane grease, and on the return trip, my bag was lost entirely -- again my toiletries, electronics, clothes and running shoes. Is it just me, or is it this bag? This is absolutely ridiculous. AIRPLANE GREASE ON A NEW $500 BAG!!!! What is the record for consecutive screw-ups with the exact same bag? Have I done something to offend them? Why my bag? Every time? This is ridiculous. I'm scheduled to go on another flight next week, and if I didn't already pre pay there's no way Id fly Southwest -- I have zero confidence that all of our luggage will arrive undamaged. We took the bags to the cleaners, they said there's nothing to do because its some sort of grease, not dirt. What next?

Upon checking in for flight to Jamaica on 7/21. Service rep Melissa, looked me in my face and said " when is the last time you flew Southwest?". I said " over ten years ago, why?". She says well you have to have two seats, I can give you one free for this flight but your return flight is filled and you may not be able to come back. Now, yes I'm a big girl, but I do not take up two seats. Come to find out, while she was"looking" for another return flight for me, she was actually typing our whole conversation. I asked her if I wasn't allowed to board in Jamaica to come home, would I be given accommodations for the night and she said "No, that's all on you"..Really??? So needless to say my vacation was dampered with me stressing that I might not make it home. This *** even had the nerve to take my name off the booking for the return flight..My travel agent had to go back and forth with Southwest to get it reinstated. Turns out, not only did Jamaica not look twice at me at check in, the flight had at LEAST 4 extra seats!!!..Thank you Melissa for being a total, discriminating ***!...NEVER FLYING SOUTHWEST AGAIN!

I am so glad that an agent was looking out for the other passengers on the flight. So many times people who are fat do not even see or acknowledge how fat they are.

As a result, they try to fit into a single seat, stealing space from the passengers around them who have paid for the seat beside them. If people cannot fit in a single seat with the arm rest down, they should be required to buy another seat.

This is not discrimination.

Also, there is a product out that passengers can buy that fits on their half of the armrest which prevents fellow passengers from coming into your space.

Guest

Thank God she asked you that? All too often POS(person's of size) have tried to squeeze into their seat an seep into mine.

No one thinks they're in someone else's seat.

She's not discriminating against anything, she's looking out for you by prepping you for the possibility and someone forced to share their seat with you.

Get over it!

Southwest Airlines Customer Care Review from Charlotte, North Carolina

Terrible customer service by Donna at RDU at approx. 4:30pm est on today August 16. Extremely rude. I mistakenly thought I was an A lister because I paid for early bird. Once i completed checking my bags on the kiosk she LOUDLY said you are not sn A lister go to the end of the line and come to me ehen you get to the front. I apologized and did what she barked for me to do. When I got to the front of the line another customer service person help me she went to the other for my bad tags and Donna told her she deleted my information from the system and then looked at me and rolled her eyes. The new customer service person was extremely professional help me and apologized. While in line I noticed that she barked at several other customers about not being able to check their bags at a certain kiosk in summoning them to the end of the line as well. I acknowledge my mistake but Donna needs to be trained in how to professionally speak to people and how to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Business traveler of 28 years and I have never encountered anyone as unprofessional as Donna. Train her before she causes you to lose customers

Southwest Airlines Flight 1821 Review from Lake Village, Arkansas

These people are a bunch of idiots. My sons flight got delayed from Houston to Oklahoma City.

The weather was bad in Houston and bad in OKC. I could see by the trackers that it had been diverted. SWA said diverted to Kansas City. All the other trackers said Tulsa.

I called customer service to find out the true story. They couldn't even tell me one thing about the flight. Except for it started in Harlingen that morning. Duh!

I could look that up. You would think these people would at least know a little about their own airlines. Evidentially not. Southwest was once one of my top picks for an airline.

Not now. They have gone to the dogs. Planes are all old and outdated.

Attendants are rude. Customer service is clueless.

I guess this is how you validate yourself and get a little power back in your life. If you knew what the deal was why would you play games with the staff.

SW FA's are among the nicest around.

Judging by your banal, lame post I'm guessing you have no life other than disrupting other folks lives.

How much did you expect them to tell you.

Ground stops that are a dynamic situation.

Storms are dynamic situation .

Get a life and a clue it take more to unwad these situations than you could imagine.

Had 3 consecutive flight delays. Flight I'm on right now is 1 hr 20 mins. delayed. Walked through trash strewed jetway. Never saw anything like this and am 2.5 million mile traveler on United. I do not get the appeal of this airline--the planes are aged and have disgusting bathrooms (like public restrooms in a city) and the pilots land hard and scary. I can't believe this airline hasn't been sanctioned by the FAA.

Southwest Horrible Customer Treatment!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I tried to book a flight on 5/31 using a LUV voucher, but got an error message saying the voucher had been cancelled. I called and was on the phone for hours with two agents at two different phone numbers. The second agent eventually told me that someone I never heard of requested that the voucher be cancelled and reissued!!! How this could happen, given the security code requirement, is beyond me. Anyway, despite the fact that this error certainly was NOT my fault, I was told that I had to wait for them to "investigate" what happened - should take "a couple of days". FIVE days later (6/4), someone called to tell me that the investigation showed that this was an honest mistake, and my voucher would be reissued via email in "a couple of days". Again, I was told that I must wait because someone in their shop made a mistake - is this good customer service? Is this even reasonable??? As of today, SEVEN days later, I have no email voucher, no phone call, and no patience. I just now called again, and was told that they are "working on it"!!! How absurd that they cannot make right their mistake in ELEVEN days!! Obviously, they do not care that I and my travel partners have not been able to finalize our travel plans. I used to think that Southwest was the hand-down best airline, and I was their best cheerleader. This is not only unacceptable, it is outrageous!!!

A Corporation That Is Proud to Steal

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hey, I paid for a ticket with PayPal. I notified Southwest in several e-mails that there was a change is travel plans. Southwest's Corporate Office, Mike Hafner, Customer Operations, received a written inquiry about the problems. Several e-mails to Customer Service were sent. Southwest Airlines ignores written inquiries. Southwest Airlines confiscates the payment. Southwest Airlines refuses to provide flight services, or refund my property. Southwest Airlines makes it their written company policy to steal my property. Good job!!! That's how you treat your customers. E-mail communications ignored. Written letter ignored. Kept my payment WITHOUT providing flights services. Couldn't care less about my financial condition, abuse perpetrated, or customer welfare and satisfaction. I love it when large, careless Corporation's go out of their way to abuse me.

"makes it their written company policy"

Not sure what policy you're referring to but your stating there is a policy makes you look silly at best.

If said policy exists you agreed to it when you bought your ticket or did you bother to read the terms of service when you hit that little tick box similar to the one you hit when you posted this lame complaint.

Lost luggage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Lost my luggage on my flight to Norfork VA. On the way back they lost my luggage again. In both incidents we received our luggage the next day. The hotel we were staying was located over 60 miles away. The bad thing was that my Insulin and medications were in my luggage. I am a frequent flyer and have used SouthWest airlines for many years and have never had an incident where I have lost my luggage. It appears that the competence of your baggage handlers are becoming a problem. I am now concerned weather I should continue my use of SouthWest Aitlines.

Extortion tactics for better "place in line"

I arrived at the airport 2 hours early for my flight to Missouri on August 3. I checked in and my ticket said "check with gate for your place in line to board". When I got to my gate the check in person said "well, this is a full flight and your last to board." Would you like to pay 40.00 to upgrade and then you can get on sooner. Since I am traveling on a 635.00 ticket, I asked if charging more money to upgrade is really fair. The person at the gate and noted that " everyone usually checks in 24 hours in advance". You should do that. REALLY, NEVER had to do that before, and NEVER was asked to pay more money to "get a better place in line. So technically if I paid more money then I get a better space? How does that work if the flight is full? Do they change someone's ticket? Do you already have space your just not willing to give out for a 635.00 ticket?

Same complaint. The website isn't clear about what the extra is for and exactly how it works.

Moved and never flew Southwest before. As my husband and I are 'older' and I need a window seat, I paid for this ($60 extra roundtrip for 2), and I believe it was by luck we were able to get decent seats.

Apparently there are a lot of complaints about this. There was a class action suit prior and the nice people at the gates seemed to be aware of this and advised me to call for a refund.

Ha! The 'supervisor' insisted I had gotten what I paid for and was sorry for my 'confusion' but they could not refund the money.

So, I will file complaints with BBB, etc, but will NEVER again waste my money on this extortion .

Guest

If you've never checked in 24 hours in advance, it sounds like you got lucky.

I've always checked in online, 24 hours in advance as soon as the airlines allowed it.

Rather than whine, how about making this into a learning thing.
