These people are a bunch of idiots. My sons flight got delayed from Houston to Oklahoma City.
The weather was bad in Houston and bad in OKC. I could see by the trackers that it had been diverted. SWA said diverted to Kansas City. All the other trackers said Tulsa.
I called customer service to find out the true story. They couldn't even tell me one thing about the flight. Except for it started in Harlingen that morning. Duh!
I could look that up. You would think these people would at least know a little about their own airlines. Evidentially not. Southwest was once one of my top picks for an airline.
Not now. They have gone to the dogs. Planes are all old and outdated.
Attendants are rude. Customer service is clueless.

If you are going on a cruise, always fly into the departure city the day before, Too much can happen regardless of the airlines you choose, if you count on being there on the day of the cruise, e.g. weather, etc. If you are going to risk a flight arriving there on the day of departure, then a) choose the absolute earliest flight of the day that you can take - less chance of problems, and b) pay the extra for a good airlines so that if there is a problem, you can fly on one of their partner airlines.
I'll bet that trip insurance you passed on doesn't sound like a bad idea now.
